Now is a good time to begin our discussion of sponsorship in Alcoholics Anonymous.
An A.A. sponsor is an alcoholic that shows what they have done to recover to another alcoholic. The Big Book starts off by telling us that “To show other alcoholics precisely how we have recovered is the main purpose of this book.”(xiii:2)
The idea of showing us what they have done as opposed to telling us what we should do has proven to be an effective method of communicating instructions to those of us who may be plagued by obstinacy.
Fellowship 12 is an international Alcoholics Anonymous Group with members from 39 different countries.
To facilitate communication between A.A.’s who speak different languages and have different communication abilities we have a variety of translation capabilities and accessibility features.
Step 6!
Our discussion of Step 6 begins now. We offer articles exploring Step 6 in depth and an interactive study forum. We invite everyone to participate. We start with the instructions and delve into the meaning and implication of becoming ready to have God remove all our defects of character.
The more we study and practice the steps the better we can understand and apply the spiritual principles at their foundation. Come study with us and share your experience, strength and hope.
